Grail Everyday Carry Gear

Since diving headfirst into the wide world of everyday carry gear, I’ve heard the term “grail” used more and more loosely.

What is a grail, after all? An expensive piece of gear you lust after shortly after acquiring your last grail of the week?

No.

A grail is something much more difficult to acquire, be it through market scarcity or a price tag orders of magnitude larger than your monthly spending budget. A grail is a piece of gear that stretches your means, makes you question everything, and keeps you up at night. It’s not a flippant flavor of the week. A grail is something that speaks to you on an entirely different level, something that follows (and haunts you) through the years.

A grail is a reward for a job well done — for pushing through and achieving something virtually impossible.

I often get asked what my grail carry is. It’s easy enough to single out a few items, the few knives and watches I always revert to when asked. But an entire carry? That’s a much more difficult problem to tackle. But I tried my best in the video below.
