There's no shortage of backpacking wood stoves. They come in all shapes and sizes, mostly trying to circulate air in a way that makes your fire burn more efficiently while not being too big and bulky. The rocket stove design is easily one of the most efficient out there, but it usually comes in a bulky and outrageously heavy package.
Enter the VIREstove.
Like other collapsible backpacking wood stoves, the VIREstove is made from interlocking plates of stainless steel that flatten down to roughly the size of a tablet. It weighs 2.6 pounds, so it's not the lightest stove on the market, but it's definitely one of the more clever designs we've seen. It also has a wide, flat opening at the top with removable cross members to fit practically any cooking pot.
VIREstove is currently on Indiegogo for $45 plus shipping and is set to ship August 15, no matter what.
