Father’s Day is just around the corner. If you’ve yet to grab a gift for your old man, it’s high time you narrow down the options. Here are some of our favorite gift ideas for your outdoorsy pops this year.

Hydro Flask Growler

Double-walled vacuum bottles are all the rage these days, but you may not have ever considered one for your beer. Hydro Flask did, and they made 64-ounce and 32-ounce growlers that you can take to the brewery and fill to the top with your favorite IPA or Saison. The growlers come with an integrated handle and are just as perfect for water as they are beer. But if you want a 64-ounce Hydro Flask that will work with your other lids, they make that too.

BioLite CampStove 2

The BioLite CampStove 2 is a wild little stove. It runs on wood but captures the heat from the fire inside the burn chamber and converts it to electrical energy. This charges the internal battery that powers the jets that make the fire burn hotter. It can also power the included USB light or charge your phone in a pinch.

It’s not exactly the most practical backpacking stove — it’s quite heavy and bulky. However, it’s a hell of a lot of fun to use and, if you’re car camping, there’s an add-on grill attachment that’s really quite nice.

Stanley Base Camp Cook Set

If you get pops a stove, you might as well get him something to cook with, too. Stanley’s Adventure Series Base Camp Cook Set is a crowd favorite. It has everything you’d need for four people: a 3.5 liter pot with a vented lid, 7.25” three-ply frying pan, cutting board, spatula, serving spoon, dish drying rack, trivet, four plates, four bowls and four sporks. Best of all, everything packs neatly into the pot, which can be secured with an included bungee cord.

Leatherman Signal

Leatherman has built a reputation for making some of the best multi-tools money can buy. The Leatherman Signal upholds that standard of quality while being geared more towards outdoor and survival. It boasts your standard tools, such as a half-serrated knife blade, saw, bit driver with interchangeable bits, can and bottle opener, pliers with wire strippers, etc. But it also comes with some survival tools, such as a ferrocerium rod, safety whistle, hammer, and a diamond-coated sharpener. It also takes some cues from the popular Skeletool with a built-in pocket clip and carabiner for clipping it to a belt loop or backpack strap.

Casio Pathfinder PAG-240

Smartwatches are cool and all, but if you spend any time outdoors, you’ll quickly learn how useless they can be without constant access to power or cell service. What better to solve that issue than with a watch that charges itself via solar and has a built-in compass, barometer, altimeter and thermometer?

The Casio Pathfinder PAG-240 is one of our favorite outdoor watches. Period.

Stanley Adventure Series Stainless Steel Flask

One of the best treats at the end of a long hike is a touch of whiskey. Stanley’s Adventure Series Stainless Steel Flask is one of the best and most iconic ways to carry your poison on the trail, especially in the classic hammertone green.

That said, you can upgrade you gift for dad with the gift set, which includes the flask, four stainless steel shot glasses and hammertone green stainless steel carrying case that the shot glasses nest into.

Just remember, it’s uncouth to gift an empty flask. Fill it with a nice single malt.

Keychain Fire Starter

No one wants to be stuck in a situation where they can’t build a fire. That’s why one of my favorite new finds is the Sahara Sailor Magnesium Fire Starter. It’s super compact and lightweight, and it attaches to your keys. It comes with a ferrocerium rod, tungsten carbide striker and a water-tight compartment for storing a small tinder bundle (and some Zippo lighter fluid).

Camping lanterns are a dime a dozen. But carrying spare batteries just in case the current ones die is a pain. And USB rechargeable lanterns can get pretty pricy. That’s why our favorite lantern is the MPOWERED Luci. It’s inflatable, so it packs down really small and it’s super lightweight at just 4.4 ounces. It’s also IP67 waterproof and fully submersible. But the real trick is the large solar panel on top. Just clip it to your pack as you hike or sit it in the sun around camp during the day, and you’ll never have to worry about a dead lantern ever again.

Patagonia Black Hole Duffel

If a father in your life travels a lot or just takes to the woods for some casual car camping, you can’t go wrong with a high-quality duffel. The Patagonia Black Hole Duffel comes to mind as one of the best. It’s made of a 900-denier ripstop polyester and highly weather-resistant thermoplastic urethane laminate. Arguably the best part, however, is the fact that it converts into a backpack in seconds with removable backpack straps.

The do-it-all camp tool

Technically, a Hori-Hori is a Japanese gardening tool. But it just so happens that the Hori-Hori from Barebones Living makes a fantastic all-around camp tool, as well. It has a saw blade on one side, a knife edge on the other, pommel base, twine cutter, and, of course, a bottle opener. It can be used for everything from digging to cutting firewood or pounding in tent stakes.

OtterBox Soft Cooler

Up your dad’s cooler game with one of OtterBox’s new Trooper soft coolers. The LT 30 Cooler can be worn as a backpack or slung over the shoulder and have a 30 quart capacity. It also has a bottle opener accessory that attaches directly to one of the accessory mounts on the outside of the cooler. OtterBox says it will keep ice for over three days.

Olight M2R Warrior Flashlight

While lanterns are useful, a solid flashlight is something we don’t go camping without. There are tons of quality flashlights out there, but one of our favorites comes from Olight. The Olight M2R Warrior has a host of features that make it the perfect camping flashlight. Its brightness, for instance, ranges from just one lumen to 1,500. It’s also USB rechargeable, meaning you can keep it topped off with a solar panel. It’s also IPX8 certified, meaning it’s waterproof and fully submersible for up to four hours.

Probably our favorite feature, however, is the moonlight feature. Normally, you want your flashlights to be rather bright, but moonlight only produces one lumen. Trust me, if you’ve ever turned on a super bright flashlight in the middle of the night in your tent, you know exactly why moonlight is such a desirable feature.

Ever woken up on a brisk morning and not wanted to get out of your sleeping bag? That’s precisely what the Poler Napsack is for. It has zippered shoulders and a drawcord bottom so you can have full use of your legs and arms without peeling yourself out of the sleeping bag. Instead, you can just wear it around the campsite.
